I was doing some research yesterday into the scientific explanations for human attraction. Apparently, a “golden ratio” has been identified to describe the ideal proportions of waist-to-hips in a woman.
The equation to identify your ratio is Hips+Waist/Hips. The ideal ratio is around .7
My current ratio, with 40 inch hips and a 27 inch waist, is 1.675. After discovering that I was above the “golden ratio” I decided it was time to slim down.
Now that I think about it, it’s really ridiculous. Why should my inspiration to get in shape be based on some number that is considered the average ideal for men. I have someone who thinks that 1.675 is a pretty fine ratio and loves my figure. It’s so crazy to think how biased I am when reading scholarly articles. I automatically attribute this attractiveness scale to myself, and complain when I don’t meet it’s criteria. This criteria is impossible as I have wide hips (the actual bones are wide).
How many of you thought of your own ratio and went to measure yourself after reading this?

I saw this outside of a church, and was conflicted for about 10 seconds before I decided that it needed to be documented.
